Fast Installation

For windows users the easiest way to install faces is using the win32 stand alone setup.exe. If you want printing support you have additionally to install Ghostscript and Acrobat Reader.

Linux users with an x86 compatible platform can use the frozen package for a quick installation (Just unpack the tar file in directory an start the faces binary). For printing support you have to install Ghostscript and a PDF Reader.

Package Installation

If you want to use faces as python package the following software should be installed:

Python (required)
The numpy package. You can find its documentation here (required if you want to use the charting module)
The matplotlib library (version ≥ 0.85 is required if you want to use the charting module)
wxPython (required if you want to use the graphical user interface)
Cheetah Template Engine (required if you want to use the generator module)
Ghostscript for printing support.
A pdf reader for printing support.
The poster tool tool for printing large images on several pages. (This tool is already included in the freezed versions).

Version 0.7.0 and higher only support wxPython 2.6. Versions below 0.7.0 works with wxPython versions 2.4 to 2.6. However 2.6 is recommended and better tested.

Versions below 0.7.0 also need the Python Imaging Library to be installed for the generator module
